I am a change-driving CIO and transformational technology executive with experience across large, medium, and small-business enterprises, from <$.5B to Fortune 5.   I have 25 years’ professional experience, spanning several industries including Professional Services, Residential Construction, Financial Services / Banking and Automitive Manufacturing.  Serving as CIO, CTO, CISO, VP IT Transfomation, VP IT Corporate Systems, PMO and Governance, my corporate experience includes roles at General Motors, Ally Financial, Tenneco, Pulte Group and Arthur Andersen, LLC.

As an effective & engaging leader, I’m known for enabling IT capabilities in emerging and foundational components of IT including: AI, data analytics, tech strategy, PMO / IT governance, software development, architecture, applications management, cyber security, risk, compliance, process effectiveness and tech-driven business value delivery.

I’m grounded in servant leadership, team-building and family values, while being future focused and willing to take worthwhile risks.  I have most often been recognized as driven, decisive and action-biased with a fail-forward mentality, while being an adaptable, flexible operator who is persistent and very determined in pursuit of achieving goals.

My “why” is at the intersection of exciting innovation, business value achievement and developing people (from student to executive).  In addition to my professional responsibilities, I have successfully instantiated a perpetual-internship program, co-founded Women in Tech ERG, actively serve on the University of Tennessee Board of Visitors for the College of Emerging and Collaborative Studies, participated in local and global professional technology forums, provided mentorship, career path naviation and other support to colleagues for over 20 years.

Areas of Expertise

  • AI-enablement
    • Drawing on data, analytics, software, governance and cyber security experience, advise small to medium businesses on AI strategy and adoption, with experience at a $10B financial services and risk management company with AI strategy development and AI evangelist forum; and provide services including AI Launch Kit ™, AI Toolsfinder ™, and AI Enablement System ™
  • Technology strategy and governance
    • I have developed corporate IT strategy, roadmaps and objectives for the IT department aligned to overall company starategy and goals. I’ve fostered agile transformations, architectecure, quality assurance, business analysis / user experience, organizational change management, emerging technologies / innovation and is a strong proponent of these capapilities and skills. I have established and run PMOs, providing IT governance methods and routines, and have been responsible for executive leadership and Board reporting relative to IT performance, innovation and Cyber Security.   Strategic work has also included due diligence for acquisition and divestiture, as well as IT M&A&D work related to system synergies, separations and budgeting.
  • Data and analytics
    • With experience across 5 comopanies and 4 industires, I have lead departments, teams, planning and intiatives across the following: Business Intelligence, Reporting, Data Visualization, Data Governance, Data Strategy, Advanced and Predicive Analytics, Data Warehousing.
  • Cyber security and tech related risk management and regulatory compliance
    • My experience includes bringing companies into compliance with industry and multi-national governmental regulatory requirements for cyber security (e.g., 23 NYCRR 500), financial services (e.g, Bank Secrecy Act), and international accounting laws (e.g., eInvoicing national regulations)
  • Software system solutions and delivery
    • Serving as an IT partner to CFO, CHRO, GC and other corporate functions, I have supported softare selection, contract negotionation, vendor management and large impelentations. I’ve served to improve executive program management, business-value delivery with technology, transparency and business success.
  • IT financial management
    • I have directly managed budgets up to $25M and teams of 90 people, and have been responsible for $235M IT budgets and teams of 1200 people as CIO Chief of Staff, supporting budgeting, financial management, and cost optimization programs.

I hold a M. of Sc. From the Unvserity of Michigan, Dearborn in Program and Project Management from the College of Computer Science and Engineering.  I also earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Computer Information Systems from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Ross School of Business.
